Evaluate a shot blasting machine manufacturer through the proposed application, documented equipment scope and acceptance evidence. Years in business, a broad catalogue or a familiar component brand can inform questions, but none independently guarantees reliability or long-term profitability.
1. Confirm the Contracting and Manufacturing Roles
Identify the legal supplier and whether it manufactures, integrates or resells the proposed equipment. Establish who is responsible for engineering, documentation, installation and warranty service.
Ask for relevant experience supported by traceable records where available. Avoid using an arbitrary minimum number of years as a substitute for evidence that the proposed configuration meets the application.
2. Review the Application and Layout
Provide material, part drawings, dimensions, weight, incoming condition and surface requirements. Ask the supplier to explain handling, coverage, utilities and maintenance access.
A wide product range does not prove suitability for a particular part. Standard or customized equipment should be assessed against the same acceptance criteria.
3. Define Included Controls and Components
Request the actual functions, component scope and operating limits. A PLC, branded drive or collector does not independently prove lower energy use or better surface quality.
Identify interfaces, fault responses, protective functions and verification responsibilities. Record optional items and exclusions beside the quoted price.
4. Check Quality and Compliance Evidence
Request the documents required for the actual equipment and destination. Check their issuing entity, scope and applicability. Generic certificate logos and test reports from unrelated machines are insufficient.
Agree manufacturing inspections, trial requirements and acceptance records appropriate to the design. Do not assume every machine requires the same weld test or that one certificate establishes all relevant compliance.
5. Specify Support in Writing
Confirm commissioning, training, manuals, warranty terms and spare-parts identification. Establish the service location, communication process, availability and commercial conditions actually offered.
Response times and spare-parts lead times should come from the agreed service scope. Do not treat a universal round-the-clock response or short delivery deadline as an established supplier capability.
6. Compare Complete Costs
Include handling, extraction, utilities, site work, installation and acceptance testing. Estimate operating costs from abrasive, energy, wear parts, maintenance, labor and disposal under the expected duty.
Separate measured data from forecasts. A low purchase price may omit scope, but a high price also does not prove better value.
7. Verify Project References Responsibly
Where references are offered, ask how the project identity, machine configuration and published results are supported. Customer contacts and project documents should be shared only with appropriate permission.
A photo or general demonstration video cannot establish a measured saving on the proposed application. If relevant references cannot be disclosed, record that limitation and evaluate the available technical and trial evidence rather than inventing a substitute case.
8. Agree Delivery and Acceptance Responsibilities
Confirm packing, transport scope, destination documentation, site readiness and installation responsibilities. Keep factory acceptance and site acceptance requirements distinct where both are part of the contract.
